Speed reading is a very misunderstood concept. Many regard it as “not real reading”, as in skimming a page or superficially flipping through a book looking at pictures and headlines. Some even label speed reading as “hokus pocus”, right up there with hypnosis, telepathy and looking into the 5th dimension.
Some of these views are a bit funny, but they are understandable; over the past 60 years we have seen a wide variety of techniques riding under the flag speed reading that make some rather interesting claims. Like reading at 25,000 words per minute with near perfect recall. “Photographing” whole pages as fast as you can flip them, and then pass exams like a genius. I can keep going, but you get the idea.
In “Speed Reading Secrets” we like to keep things a bit closer to planet Earth. When we use the phrase “speed reading,” we’re referring to something that is not only achievable by most readers, but it is also a stable technique that readers can confidently use in both school and business, where the objective is absolute accuracy.
The thing is, speed reading is a skill like any other skill. There’s no magic or arcane principles involved. It requires training and practice. Simple as that.
Learned correctly, it can become an extremely effective and reliable tool to sift through vast amounts of information, and learning it more rapidly than you do with your current skillset.
I’m almost tempted to use the phrase “real reading” instead of speed reading. Why? Because the rubbish they leave us with in 3rd grade, is where reading only begins.
It’s like taking driving lessons, and they teach you to start the car, turn on the lights, and drive around the parking lot at Walmart. That’s it. You’re done and can now drive. Here you go, here’s your license. You’ve earned it. However, the moment you enter the onramp to the freeway you’re in big trouble. Same thing with reading training in school. 5th or 6th grade reading materials — you’re doing just fine. College and the real world of business — not so much.
Speaking of business, consider the fact that the average person spends about 25% of their workday reading office related material. Well, that’s $25,000 for a man or woman who is paid a yearly salary of a hundred grand. Someone is actually paying the individual $25K to read. And not just once. It’s year in and year out.
Picture this person learning speed reading, and acquiring the ability to read through those same books and documents 5 times faster. I don’t have to spell it out. Anyone can see that this saves vast amounts of money for the company that is writing the paychecks.
Not only that, but this speed reading devil of a man or woman is going to be far better informed and competitive in the marketplace. He or she is going to run circles around those limping along with their 6th grade reading skills.
I began to understand how valuable good reading skills really are, when Ericsson, the telecommunication giant, called my company up in 2000 and ordered $100,000 worth of speed reading training for their employees. This was when we were still doing seminars and corporate in-house training.
Quality vs. Speed
Now, a lot of people ask themselves the question: Will a 2 to 5 times increase in my reading rate make me a sloppy reader? Will I understand less of what I read? Will I remember less of what I read?
This is probably the biggest difference between “Speed Reading Secrets” and other programs you may have been exposed to in the past. See, we focus mostly on comprehension and accuracy. The speed is there, but what good is speed if you can’t recall what you read? The training would defeat its own purpose.
But let me ask you a question…
Did you ever get to the end of a paragraph or a section in a book and discover that you couldn’t remember a darn thing of what you just read?
For many readers this happens all the time. DESPITE the fact that they’re trying to read much slower to understand what they read!
I’m not going to go into the reason why this happens in this article, but what I am going to say is: With Speed Reading Secrets, within a day or two, this will virtually never happen again!
Imagine how valuable this will be to you. Because now you’re actually starting to read faster, while at the same time understanding and remembering the material much better.
So in essence, while you’re learning to read faster, you’re simultaneously improving your comprehension and recall skills. Comprehension and recall is given just as much attention as speed in this training. Gotta have all three boxes checked for this to work out in the end.
But you want to know what is the best thing of all?
This is easy to do.
Yep. Super easy. It’s more or less about understanding how your brain and eyes work as you travel down the page, and changing a few reading habits that are holding you back. Anyone can do it. We’re all born with the ability to speed read.
With this training you’re guaranteed to AT LEAST doubling your current reading rate, which happens within days. And depending on how seriously you take the training, you may well 3X or 5X you reading rate within a short period of time, usually within 3 to 4 weeks.
Who Will Benefit?
Anyone who reads work or school related materials for at least 4 hours a week. We’re talking business professionals (managers, engineers, scientists, admins), government employees, salesmen, entrepreneurs, and students from 6th grade and up.
